Research Progress of Wear Behaviors and Mechanism of Titanium Alloys Under Dry Sliding Condition

Titanium alloys are widely used in aerospace,chemical engineering,energy and other fields because of its high specific strength and stiffness,good corrosion resistance and heat resistance etc.However,the poor wear resistance of the titanium alloys are attributed to its low surface hardness,low resistance to plastic deformation and working hardening ability,and low protective function of surface oxides,which hindered its development in the field of wear resistance.In order to improve the potential wear resistance of titanium alloy and expand its application areas,the current status of the research on dry sliding friction and wear of the titanium alloys in recent years is summarized in this paper.The main factors influencing the tribological properties and the wear mechanism under different conditions of the titanium alloys are also discussed.Finally,the potential development trends of the sliding friction and wear behavior of titanium alloys are prospected.
