Analysis and Calculation of Melting Performance for the Low-iron Glass

Chemical composition of the low-iron glass samples was investigated by X-ray Fluorescence(XRF) Spectrometry.Based on the empirical formula together with GE-SYSTEM software,the melting properties of low-iron glass such as thermal conductivity,temperature gradient and viscosity were calculated and analyzed.The results reveal that Fe_2O_3 content in low-iron glass is about 0.01%, the thermal conductivity is 1.3145 W·m~(-1)·K~(-1).The temperature gradient is smaller,which decreased with increasing melt depth.Compared with the general float glass,when the surface temperature is the same,temperature at the depth of 120cm in the low-iron glass melts is higher than that in the float glass by 95℃,and viscosity decreases to 1/3 as that of the float glass.
