Selection of Steel Reinforcement Form for Upper Beams

In the building structures,the upper bar for the beam generally adopts the bar with a large diameter,the same as the standard diameter of the support bar,and also has the bar with a small diameter overlapped with the support bar to save the bar in the middle part.Strictly based on the requirements of norms and atlas,this paper analyzes the utilization amount of steel in the two types of reinforcement,and verifies it with the advanced technology of Building Information Modeling(BIM),with the conclusion drawn as follows:the method of adopting a small-diameter bar to overlap with the support bar in the middle part is unfeasible,because it cannot save steel reinforcement,and affect the integrity of the structure;and the upper beam should use the bar with a large diameter,the same as the standard diameter of the support bar.This conclusion can provide a reliable and effective theoretical basis for the design and construction of building structures.
