An Analysis of the Chinese and Western Cultural Constituents of Gu Hongming's Conservatism

Gu Hongmmg is a conservative figure with great personal charm in the history of modern China.From the point of view of western culture,he examines and accepts the Chinese culture.As a Confucian scholar,he publicizes the Confucian relics and morals to the western society with high social responsibility and thus is taken as the repre- sentative figure of the Chinese culture by the western society.Therefore,it is necessary to master the essence of Gu Hongming's conservatism,diagnose the Chinese and western cultural constituents revealed in Gu Hongming's ideas and explore their relationship.
