Connotation and Function of John Dewey's Aesthetic Education

John Dewey's pragmatistic aesthetic education once had exerted a far-reaching influence in China.It was caused by practical problems such as alienation of people in industrial society,mechanical and indifference of education mode,and plight of art itself,etc.So,it had a strong function of social salvation.John Dewey increased the art to the height of the perfect life,he believed that art was the most prevalent,unrestricted communication form,at the same time,it had the value of cultural continuity.In view of the function and characteristics of art itself,school aesthetic education should be combined with life,lets the life artistry,meanwhile sublime s life by art.
