ISLAND FOREARM SKIN FLAP TRANSFER IN HAND SURGERY

Elevn cases of island forearm skin flap transfer to coyer the skin defects of hand and elbow are reported, of the eleven patients 9 were males and 2 females,They aged from14 to 42 yearswith an average of 26.There were 5 cases of acute traama, 5 cases of contraction of scar affer traama and one case of ehronic ulcer, seven flaps were transferred distal to the hand. Three were transferred above the elbow and one slidden to the wrist with two vascular pedicles, All of these flaps were well-taken with satisfactory results The advantages of island foream skin flap are its simplicity, reliability and shorten in operation time. The authors believe that the use of free skin flap transfer in treating skin defects of hand to elbow may be replaced by the use of island forearm skin flap transfer in selected cases
