The small megakaryocytes and degenerate megakaryocytes inchildren with idiopathic thrombocytopenie purpura: Numbers,morphologic change and its clinical significance

The numbers and morphologic change of the small megakaryocytes (SMK) and degenerate megakary-ocytes (DMK) in bone marrow have been studied in 30 children with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). The results showed that there were increased number of SMK and DMK in bone marrow in ITP. The SMK and/or DMK were found in 77%children with ITP (Among 30 ITP, 5 were only found SMK, 4 were only found DMK, 14 were found both of them). About 2-42 per cent of the total megakaryocytes in bone marrow in ITP were SMK and 2 ?10 per cent were DMK. The relationship between SMK, DMK and the clinical manifestation, prognosis also have been studied.
