AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON ENDOTOXEMIA-MEDIATED RAT RENAL DAMAGE MECHANISMS

In this experiment,we measured the changes of the rat renal morphology .function and contents of MDA in the renal tissue homogenate at 1,3,5,12.24,48 and 72h after a bolus injection lipopolysaccharide (LPS) 250ug·kg-1BW via rat tail vein,so as that we investigated the mechanisms .of LPS -mediated rat renal injury. The results indicated:(1) Renal dysfunction happened at lh,becamed conspicuous at 5h,and retuned at 48h after injection LPS. (2) According to renal morphologicalchanges,the glomerular changes were an important step in LPS -mediated renal injury. (3) Oxygen free radical was a mainfactor that caused glomerulus damage in endotoxemia. (4) Oxygen free radical originated mainly from neutrophil in glomeru-lus. The results suggested that LPS induced neutrophil stasis in glomerulus and activated it,the latter injuried the kidney by releasing oxidants.
