Fiberbronchoscopy was performed on 310 cases of suspected bronchogenic carcinoma, which 106 cases of lung cancer were comfirmed by biopsy and cytological examination. The histoiogical types of bronchogenic carcinoma were: squa-mous cell carcinoma 55(59. 2%) cases, adenocarcinoma 11(10. 4%)cases,undiffrentiated carcinoma 37(34. 8%) cases and 3 (2.8%) unclassified cases. Twelve cases had positive results in sputum exfoliative cell examination, the cell type of which was identical with that of brush cell examination. Twenty -four cases had positive results in pathological examination of inci-. sional biopsy specimens,of which 12 cases showed negative results in brush cell examination. Of other 12 caese.8 had the same results in brush cell and incisional biopsy examination,2 were undermined and 2 had disaccoroding results. Fiberbron-choscopy is an useful means to obtain pathological specimens for diagnosis, therefore it should be performed early when a patient is suspected to have the possibility of lung cancer.
