Closed loop and dynamic simulation of faults and protective relaying performances for distribution networks

Simulation methods of faults and protective relaying performances for distribution networks are discussed in the paper.Considering the special requirements of distribution networks simulation and the shortage of existed simulation methods,an applied simulation model is established with the module of Petersen-coil,current transformer,Protective relay.Simulation program is developed with ATP/EMTP software.It can perform the dynamic process of fault occurrence,identification and isolation.Simulation results show that the model and software are corrective.The simulation model provides an applied tool for the analysis of distribution networks protection principle and its' transient performance,and simulation for faults isolation process.
