A Biosensor for the Detection of Escherichia coli based on Interdigitated Microelectrodes

The preparation and detection technique of Escherichia coli biosensor based on interdigitated microelectrodes is proposed.The biosensor is obtained by modifying the interdigitated microelectrodes array with biological molecules.The interdigitated microelectrodes array is made by microfabrication technology such as evaporation,photolithography and wet etching process.The Escherichia coli can be captured in the micro-gap of the interdigital microelectrodes array using the biological modification techniques.Then the silver will be deposited on the surface of interdigital microelectrodes,which makes the interdigital microelectrodes conducted.The quantitative analysis of Escherichia coli can be done by measuring the conductance value of the interdigital microelectrodes.This technique not only can be used in the detection of Escherichia coli,but also can be applied in the detection of other microorganisms.
