A Study on the Role of Intergenerational Transfer of Rural Higher Education Investment in Stimulating Urbanization

A steady and high-quality urbanization is the goal of Sustainable Urbanization for China. University students,especially those coming from rural areas,are the motive force of urbanization in way of intergenerational transfer. It is a strategy for joint development of higher education and high-quality urbanization. This article,by analyzing data of panel and questionnaires,has discovered: 1. the number of university students,the symbol of result from higher education investment is closely related to the urbanization level,and shows an upward trend. 2. The university students from rural areas and their relatives,neighbors and neighboring villagers will become university students and migrant workers by means of intergenerational transfer or under the model' s influence. They will then settle down in cities,fueling the steady development of urbanization. They are responsible for 1/3 of China's urbanization. 3. Rural university students have the effects of age structure,occupation structure,income structure and regional structure. In addition,the article also proposes to further popularize and improve senior high school education in rural areas,attach importance to investment on higher education,in particular,the significance of investment on rural university students for a steady and high-quality urbanization and policy suggestions if relevant.
