A Calculation Method for Ocean Coherence Time by Along-Track Interferometric SAR without Control Point

When using the Along-Track Interferometric SAR(ATI-SAR)to calculate the sea surface coherence time,it is necessary to know the decline of correlation coefficient between the fore and aft channels caused by noise.The commonly used method is to take the land or the inference date with zero baseline in the Dual-Baseline Interferometric SAR as a reference.However,the existing ATI-SAR systems are mostly single-baseline systems.Moreover,the acquired ocean SAR images often do not contain land targets.To solve this problem,a method for calculating the sea surface coherence time by ATISAR without control point is proposed in this paper.Firstly,the power of noises is estimated from the power spectrum of the SAR image,and the signal-to-noise ratio of the image is calculated.Then,the decline of correlation coefficient of the fore and aft channels caused by noise is calculated,and then the sea surface coherence time is calculated accordingly.The proposed method is applied to the actual airborne ATI-SAR data and the sea surface coherence time is obtained.The comparison between the coherence time obtained in the experiment and that of the simulation shows that the sea surface coherence time can be accurately estimated by the proposed method,which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method.
