Carbon Fiber Composite Groove Defect Air-Coupled Ultrasonic Guided Wave Detection

Traditional ultrasonic guided wave detection requires water or oil as coupling agents,However,some special materials cannot use coupling agents due to their own reasons,which limits the detection.In this paper,carbon fiber composites are taken as the research object.The 0.2 MHz probe frequency is selected while using the non-contact air coupled ultrasonic guided wave detection method.By analyzing the amplitude changes of the ultrasonic echo signals of three kinds of manual grooving defects at the same depth and different width,the corresponding relationship between the size of the different defects and the amplitude of the echo signal is studied.It provides experimental guidance for the application of air coupled guided waves in composite material detection.The experimental results prove the feasibility and reliability of air coupled ultrasonic guided wave detection.
