The assessment of plants drought resistance can ensure the suitable species for suitable land in landscape ecosystem planning and increase the ecological resilience of urban green spaces. Based on the analysis of the morphological feature, response mechanism and drought resistance of landscaping plants, the study established an evaluation system which includes 23 drought resistance indicators under 4 categories of leaf shape, leaf texture, stem structure and natural habitat. After assessing the drought-resistant characteristics of 104 species of plants in Jinan, the authors obtained the optimized chain of drought resistance, and explored the approach to woody landscaping species selection oriented to morphological characteristics. This study provides the countermeasures for the reasonable selection of landscaping plants for different habitats.
