Overview of physiological and biochemical research on embryo diapause of silkworm, Bombyx mori

The diapause hormone(dH), synthesized and secreted by the inferior pharyngeal ganglion during pupal stage, acts on the ovary, causing a series of physiological and biochemical changes, mainly including the decrease of H_2O_2 level, sorbitol accumulation, the decrease of glucose and the decrease of oxygen consumption and so on.Eventually, silkworm embryo enters diapause. In this article, we reviewed the general situation of physiological and biochemical studies on diapause of silkworm. It is expected to provide insights and references for the research of the mechanism of silkworm embryo diapause.
