Application of the Three-Dimensional Joint Network Simulation in the Study of the Deformability of Rock Masses

Zhu Wenbing(Civil Architectural Engineering College,Changsha Railway University,Changsha, 410075 )  
According to the geostatistical results of joints geometrical characteristics, the three-dimensional joint network is generated by means of Monte-Carlo method. In this paper the elsatic deformability of rock masses is established.The results show that the elsatic compliance coefficient matrix is a function ofjoints orientation, joint size. density of joint, Young's modulus and Poisson'sratio of intact rock. The results also show that the irregular distribution ofjoint dip direction and dip angle is responsible for the anisotropy of rock mass.
