The strength-effect of fly ash

The strength-effects of fly ash(FA) in mortar and concrete are studied by two parameters of strength-effect index and strengthening factor. The influences of the amount of fly ash in system and water to binder ratio(w/b) on strength-effect is analyzed in detail. Results indicate that the strength-effect of fly ash in mortar system is different from that of concrete. The strength-effect of fly ash varies with the amount of fly ash and w/b. In concrete system, there are two different optimal w/b to make strength-effect index and strengthening factor of fly ash maximum, and an optimum amount of fly ash for optimal unit strength-effect index.
