The influence of land finance on the provision level of local public goods:an empirical analysis based on provincial-level panel data

YAN Si-qi;
Using data for China's 31 provincial-level administrative divisions and spatial econometric models,this essay examines the influences that the increase in revenue from land sales has on the provision level of various local public goods.The research findings show:There is significant spatial autocorrelation in the provision level of local public goods;The increase in revenue from land sales results in a significant rise in the provision level of economic public goods;The increase in revenue from land sales does not have a significant influence on the provision level of non-economic public goods with the characteristics of long investment periods,however,it leads to a significant rise in the provision level of non-economic public goods with the characteristic of short investment periods and fast capitalization.The results indicate that there exists structural distortion in "land finance"expenditure.
