Changes of the Leaf Ψ_w、Ψ_s、Ψ_p and Leaf Elongation Rate in Maize Under the Soil Drought Conditionn Without day-night durinal Temperature

The durinal changes of leaf and leaf elongation rate in Maize seedlings(YeDan No.4)were studied under soil drought as well as no durinal temperature change condition. The results showed that under drought condition,the leaf elongation rate during daytime was greater than that at nighttime with the leaf base's during daytime higher than that at night. The higher at the leaf base was attributed to the increase in the leaf(i,gosmotic regulation).It is concluded that the higher of leaf base may be the main cause of higher rate of leaf elongation during daytime.
