The Application of ZM6 Casting Magnesium Alloy in the Principal Bearing Structure of Spacecraft

The design scheme of the principal bearing structure,advantages of magnesium alloy materials were introduced in this paper. The application bottlenecks of magnesium alloy casting,machining and surface treatment were solved by low pressure casting,gap pouring system and micro-arc oxidation. The application of ZM6 casting magnesium alloy in large size structure was realized. The simulation results show that the stiffness and strength of the principal bearing structure based on magnesium alloy meet the design requirements. Compared with the aluminum alloy structure,the ratio of strength to mass increased by 10. 2 %,the ratio of stiffness to mass increased by 28. 9% and the weight decreased by a third,the lightweight of spacecraft was realized. The results of this application research also provide reference for the lightweight design of other spacecraft.
