Effect of Gaseous Film Cooling on Throat Wall of Hypersonic Nozzle

This paper aims at presenting a numerical model to study the cooling effect of gaseous film on throat wall and its influence on the outlet flow field of hypersonic nozzle. This paper aims at presenting a numerical model to study the cooling effect of gaseous film on throat wall and its influence on the outlet flow field of hypersonic nozzle. It involves first a numerical simulation of a hypersonic nozzle flow field. Then a slit model is built at the upstream of the nozzle throat to inject cooling gas to form a gas film on the wall of the downstream of the nozzle. The paper analyzes the pattern of the cooling effect of the gaseous film on the wall of the nozzle throat as well as the influence on the exit flow field of the nozzle at different injection rate to explore the methods of the thermal protection of the throat of the hypersonic nozzle. The simulation results indicates that the gas film has a cooling effect on the nozzle throat without impacting the nozzle exit flow field to a certain extent.
