EXTRACTION AND MEASUREMENT OF FORMONONETIN CONTENT IN CLOVER HERBAGE

This paper reported that isoflavones were extracted from a red clover(Trifolium pratense L.) and a crystal was obtained by purification. The crystal was identified as formononetin which was used as a standard sample to determine the content of formononetin in red and white clover(Trifolium repens L.)with thinlayer chromatography scan. It is hoped that this method could be spread in some other leguminous herbages.
