Trial report of shade tolerance of Panicum maximum under forest of Pinus caribaea

Wei Jia shao, Bai Chang jun, Liu Guo dao (Chinese Tropical Academy of Agricultural Science, Danzhou 571737, China)  
The trial results indicated that Panicum maximum was survived and grew well under 30%~65% relative light of pine tree in Hainan, China. Two entries of CIAT6299 and CIAT6901 performed strongest shade tolerance, the dry matter was 11 044 kg/hm 2 and 8 589 kg/hm 2 respectively. Compared to local extended variety, the grass yield of CIAT6299 and CIAT6901 increased by 139.6% and 86.4% respectively.
