Synthesis and Its Property of Theophylline Molecules Imprinted PDVB /PAA IPNs

Theophylline molecules imprinted and non-imprinted interpenetrating polymer networks composed of polydivinylbenzene and polyacrylic acid(PDVB /PAA IPN) were synthesized by suspension polymerization of divinylbenzene swelling into sulfonated polydivinylbenzene beads with the existence of porogens.Structures of the imprinted and non-imprinted IPNs were characterized,and adsorption isotherms of the two IPNs for theophylline were measured.The results showed that the imprinted IPN adsorbed much more theophylline than the non-imprinted IPN though their physical and chemical structures were similar,and thus a simple method to synthesize molecularly imprinted macroporous crosslinked polymer beads is established.
