Design and Implementation of Cartographical Point Symbol Based on Post Script Imaging Model

Vector symbols used in current GIS software can be dissatisfactory for their low resolution and poor share ability. This paper introduces common graphical description mechanism of Post Script imaging model to design map symbols,related point symbol data structure and process of generating,storing and symbolizing are detailed. Post Script-based symbol library and cartography system are developed,the performance shows that the symbols have higher resolution and better share ability.
