A high-speed video camera was used to study the flow patterns in the porous media channel of vertical upward flow. Four kinds of typical flow patterns were identified within the parameters in this experiment, they were bubbly flow, slug flow, pulse flow and mist flow. Based on the pressure drop data of two-phase flow which obtained in the experiment, pressure drop relationship of sub-phase model and homogeneous model were fitted respectively and two types of resistance relationship have been obtained which adapted to the characteristics of this experiment. The improved model of two types have all reached a good agreement with the experimental data, but the homogeneous model which contained various influencing factors to the pressure drop in its defined relationship has higher prediction accuracy compared with the sub-phase model, and the physical meaning of the homogeneous model was more clearly,so the model could be used for calculated the resistance of the gas-liquid two-phase flow in the porous media channel in the first place.
