SAFETY MONITORING DESIGN AND INSTRUMENT INSTALLATION IN CONCRETE FACE ROCKFILL DAM OF TIANSHENGQIAO FIRST CASCADE (TSQ-1) HYDROPOWER STATION

The dam of TSQ-1 hydropower station is the highest concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD) under construction in China.This article briefly describes the dam safety monitoring designs,especially several characteristic items,such as hydrostatic settlement cells and horizontal displacement gauges,which measure the settlements and horizontal displacements in the rockfill,and the longest pipeline ever installed in rockfill dams throughout the world,which is up to 350 m in length.Four stages are described in dam safety monitoring design and implementation,and the work which needs to be done at each stage is also described.Four aspects of work which are needed for full implementation in CFRD of TSQ-1 hydropower station are introduced.
