Correction of beam pointing error in retrodirective arrays based on beam space pre-identify

In order to reduce the beam pointing error(BPE)of dual-frequency retrodirective arrays,a new beam pointing correction method based on the pre-identification of the beam space is presented.By analyzing the model of retrodirective arrays,the ideal phase compensation for the correction of BPE,as a function of the arriving angle,was derived.The possible range of the arriving angle could be estimated by power comparasion among the signals in the beam space,based on which the approximate phase compensation can be determined.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is able to reduce the BPE by almost one order of magnitude with strong robustness over Gaussian white noise.Compared with the existing methods,the proposed one keeps the basic structure of retrodirective arrays and has the advantages of simplicity and robustness,which provides a new idea in dual-frequency system application of retrodirective arrays.
