STRATIGRAPHIC AGE OF THE HIGH GRAVITY AND LOW MAGNETISM SERIES OF THE JZA-1 WELL IN LIAODONG BAY AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE FOR PETROLEUM PROSPECTING

The JZA-1 well is located in the northern part of the Liaodong Uplift, Bohai Basin. A uniquely high gravity and low magnetism series was recorded in this well. Based on lithostratigraphic correlation, paleontological data, seismic sections, and wiring logs, it is suggested that this series is of Cretaceous age. The gravity and magnetism anomaly data reveal a non-traditional buried hill in Liaodong Bay, which can also be regarded as effective capping beds. This study expands our knowledge about models of oil and gas formation in the Mesozoic rocks in Liaodong Bay.
