Preliminary research on the tectonostratigraphy in the Southwestern Tianshan Mountains

Xiao Xuchang; Tang Yaoqing;Gao Jun;Zhao Min ;Wang Jun(Geol. Dep. of Peking Univ., Beijing, 100871) (Geol. Inst., Chinese Geol. Academy, Beijing, 100037)
The Southwestern Tianshan orogenic belt may be divided into four tectonostratigraphic regions, namely, the Yili-central Tianshan, the southern margin of the central Tianshan, the southern Tianshan and the Tarim. The early Proterozoic metamorphic crystalline basement and the late stable platform covers are exposed in the Yili-central Tisnshan region. A series of metamorphic subduction complexes crop out along the southern margin of the central Tianshan region. In the southern Tianshan region, early Paleozoic slope and shelf were deposited on the passive continental margin, and the Late Paleozoic oceanic crustal formation occur. The Middle-Late Proterozoic metamorphic crystalline basement and the postEarly Sinian stable covers are exposed in the north of the Tarim region.
