Building effective model for intravenous infusion adverse event reporting and management

Objective Buiding intravenous infusion adverse event reporting and management mode,to improve nurses' cognitive about intravenous infusion unsafety,and the quality of clinical care.Methods Establishing intravenous infusion adverse event reporting and management team;staff training;the establishment of a non-punitive safety culture and an incentive system;specifically tailored reports;reporting methods in various ways;adverse event reporting and administration of intravenous transfusion were added into the matrons' day-to-day work.Survey nurses' awareness of intravenous infusion unsafety and cases of reporting adverse events before and 3 months after the implementation.Results Before and after the implementation of new mode,nurses' cognitive accuracy was statistically different by chi-square test(P0.01),and reporting cases of adverse events also was statistically different by chi-square test(P0.01).Conclusion Building intravenous transfusion adverse event reporting and management mode can improve the nurses' cognitive,establish a safety fair culture environment,improve the safety responsibility and attitude of nurses,and prevent nursing error and adverse events.
