Investigation of work related burnout of obstetric nurses in the tertiary hospital

objective To understand the degree of the work related burnout of obstetric nurses in the tertiary hospital and analysis the causes, and then give the corresponding countermeasures practically so as to improve the quality of obstetric nurses in nursing work. Methods Questionnaire survey was used to investigate the degree of the work related burnout and its causes in 136 obstetric nurses of 10 hospitals. Results The decreased sense of achievement of obstetric nurses was in the high level.Depersonalization was in the middle level and the emotional exhaustion was in the low level.The causes of the work related burnout of obstetric nurses in the tertiary hospital include their fondness of nursing work, the support of family members, self-feeling of health and work stress and social pressure. Conclusion The work related burnout of obstetric nurses in the tertiary hospital is serious and the causes were from many aspects. We should strengthen the correct understanding on obstetric,make obstetric nurses interested in obstetric nursing work,pay more attention to the main source of stress, develop related interventions to reduce the burnout of obstetric nurses.
