A Study of Brightener for Fully Bright Cyanide Zinc Plating Baths

A brightener, WD 90, which can be versatilely used in high, middle or low concentration cyanide baths for electrodeposition of mirror bright zinc layer was developed. Performances of the plating solutions incorporated with Brightener WD 90 were tested through experiments in Hull Cell and in small tanks with the polarization curves being worked out. Experimental results showed that fullybright and tough zinc layer can be obtained from a bath containing ZnO 12-45, NaCN 5-80, NaOH 100-150 g/L and WD 90 6-0ml/L with DK= 1-6 A/dm~2 when the temperature is in the range of 0-50℃.
