Development and Assessment for Low-cost Launcher System

Wu Delong (Beijing Institute of Astronautical Systems Engineering)  
This paper outlines an investigation of the reusable and recoverable launcher systems which have been established to reduce the cost of payload. The cost-effectiveness is defined by a formula. With this definition, as a design concept, the following problems are discussed:· Design criteria of low-cost launcher systems.· Cost model and its factors.· Technology development of reusable, recoverable launcher systems.· A general survey of development and its trend for low-cost launcher systems.
