Regulatory Model of Radioactive Source in United States

Licensing system, Agreement State regulation and comprehensive inspection" constituted the main regulatory framework for radioactive sources in the United States. Through developing regulations and guidance, licensing and certification, overseeing, evaluating operational experience, and conducting support for decisions, NRC performed the effective regulatory control of radioactive sources used in medical, industrial and academic activities. Understanding the regulatory system for radioactive sources in the United States is useful for strengthening our capabilities for regulatory control of radioactive source safety and security. The licensing system, Agreement State regulation and comprehensive inspection were briefly introduced in this paper.
