Scoring Criteria Description for the Objects in Cytokinesis-blocked Micronucleus Assay

The cytokinesis-blocked micronucleus(CBMN) test in human peripheral blood lymphocytes is an extensively used method for biomonitoring,mutagenicity testing and especially radiation biological dose estimation.Subjective interpretation of the scoring criteria for binucleated cell(BNC) and micronucleus(MN) between different observers and laboratories will result in the variance of MN frequency or MN-cell frequency in the CBMN test.Morphological characteristics and detailed criteria for scoring the BNC,the MN,the nucleoplasmic bridges in BNC,and the nucleoplasmic buds have been described in this paper.These detailed scoring criteria are beneficial to improve the accuracy of MN frequency and MN-cell frequency,and useful to the design of automated analysis system of CBMN image.
