SEISMIC RELIABILITY ANALYSIS AND OPTIMUM DESIGN OF TALL BUILDINGS

Ou Jinping Duan Yubo (Harbin University of Architecture and Engineering,Harbin 150006,China)  
In this paper based on the equivalent random static earthquake action model and the weakest failure mode method for the .reliability analysis of structural systems presented in our previous paper[2,6],and on the Chinese Code of Building Aseismic Design,the seismic reliability analysis methods are presented for the structural members and system respectively under minor and severe earthquake,and for the structural system under earthquake in the design service term. Then,the seismic reliability target values of structural members are recalibrated and an optimum decision method is presented for the determination of seismic reliability target values of structural systems by full considering the construction cost and expected loss of structure. Finally,the optimum design formulations of aseismic structures are presented by respectively taking account of member reliability constraints and both member and system reliability constraints.
