THE EMPIRICAL EVALUATION OF SOIL MODULI AND DAMPING RATIO FOR DYNAMIC ANALYSIS

In this paper the authors have analyzed the previous published test data of cyclic shear stress - strains relationship for various soils and recommended the empirical formulas of evaluating Cmax expressed as a funbtion of the various indexes of soil physical properties and the empirical charts between plasticity index IP versus both moduli reduction curves G/Gjmax and damping ratio curves Based on this,the authors have proposed empirical correlations between parameter IP versus Gmax,G/Gmax- and curves. These data will be great valuable to engineering practices.
