Characteristics of Jiashi strong ground motion and its relation to focus mechanism

During January to April, 1997, there were seven earthquakes of magnitude greater than Ms 6 occurred in the Jiashi area of Xinjiang, China. Four accelerographs were set up in an array and 57 strong earthquakes were recorded. The intensity and focus mechanism of these earthquakes were described in this paper. Spectra of correlation functions for these records are analyzed. Finally, we discussed the relation of the ground motion with macro - intensity and the attenuation of ground motion versus the epicental distance.
