Study of semi-active control for indoor equipment under seismic excitation

This article is about semi-active control by controllable viscous hydro-damper for reducing the important indoor equipment’s dynamical responses under seismic excitation. At first, the author formulated the dynamical (equation) of equipment system——the main structure,in which the damper was installed. Based on this, using relative displacement and relative velocity of equipment floor as control variables, the author builds the relevant semi-active control arithmetic. By numerical value analysis, equipment’s acceleration and relative displacement are reduced distinctly after controllable viscous hydro-damper is installed. Thus, we can conclude that indoor equipment’s safety and workability under seismic excitation are improved after using semi-active control.
