Application of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to tall building structures under earthquake action

Using the normal distribution as the member functions of equivalent shear-wave speed and overlay thickness,distinguishing the site sort in current Chinese Code for seismic design of buildings(GB 50011-2001)becomes fuzzy by applying fuzzy mathematics principle.A fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to determine the characteristic site period in different site conditions is put forward,and the steps to calculate earthquake action on tall building structures are given.It is shown that the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method makes the design response spectrum more conformable to the practice in seismic building design,and makes the calculation of earthquake action on tall building structures more exact.
