Soil-pipe end interaction analysis for seismic isolation pipelines crossing fault

Fault movement is an important reason causing the damage to buried pipelines.Damage mechanism,model designing,parameter analysis,and fault-resistant measures for pipeline crossing fault are the hot spot of lifeline engineering.Development in response analysis for buried pipelines crossing fault has been promoted,for example,Newmark method,Kennedy method,Wang R L method and subsequent FEM based on shell model.Using the dynamic finite element numerical simulation of shell model and considering the interaction of pipeline end with soil,basic research of a fault resistant measure for pipeline crossing fault is conducted.The result shows that the tensile strain propagates easily along the pipe,but the compressive strain can't do so.The tensile strain decreases more,but the compressive strain decrease less.Based on the analysis result,the boundary conditions are suggested.
