Analysis of dynamic responses of the high-rise structure controlled by segmented isolation

A new form of isolation,the segmented isolation,applied to the large aspect ratio high-rise structure is put forward based on the laminated rubber bearing(LRB),and the numerical simulation in the same high-rise structure controlled by the segmented isolation is carried out compared with the base and the story isolation.It is shown that the lateral displacements are concentrated on the isolation layer and most of seismic energy is dissipated.The lateral displacement of roof,the relative displacement of mid isolation and the stress at the bearing column top of segmented isolation structure are dramatically decreased,and the security of the frame member connected with isolators is ensured.As a result,the phenomena of overturning collapse caused by the tensile failure of LRB can be avoided.
