Finite element analysis and engineering application of a wall-type combined metal damper

In the paper,a novel wall-type combined metal damper is presented.The mechanical properties of the hysteretic dampers are studied on the basis of finite element analysis,and the effect of the new type damper in reducing earthquake response and the relation between K and h are discussed.The results of non-linear time-history analysis demonstrate that the structure stress is improved because of added stiffness and damping and the hysteresis loop is full and stable,and the the protection structure successfully plays its role.
