Experimental study on seismic behavior of abnormal joints of main building in thermal power plant

In order to master the seismic performance of abnormal joints of the new main buildings in thermal power plant,pseudo-static tests on six 1/5-scaleed specimens of abnormal joints caused by highly variable of beams,column section mutations and split-level structure have been performed as well as the spatial model test.The study was focused on the failure mode,hysteretic behavior and energy dissipation capability,strength and stiffness degradation law and bearing capacity calculation method.The experimental results show that the cracking load and the ultimate load of irregular joints obviously decrease when compared with regular joints,two typical failure modes may occur simultaneously,namely,they are the small core shear failure and column compression-bending-shear combined failure.The shear walls set in the joints can effectively improve the seismic performance and energy dissipation capacity.The calculation method of SRC irregular joints for different failure patterns is proposed.It can provide reference for engineering design.
