Finite element analysis on hysteretic performance of steel reinforced recycled concrete composite columns

Based on the test results of steel reinforced recycled concrete composite columns under low reversed cyclic loading,the composite columns were analyzed by the Open Sees finite element software. The hysteresis curves,skeleton curves and horizontal bearing capacity of composite columns were obtained and also compared with the test results. The results show that the simulation curves of the composite columns with flexural failure has a good agreement with the test curve. And the simulative curves shapes of the columns with the shear failure has certain differences from the test curves,but the calculating bearing capacity can agree with the measured bearing capacity. It indicates that Open Sees can be applied to simulate the hysteretic performance of steel reinforced recycled concrete composite columns. On this basis,the parameter analysis of the hysteretic performance of the long columns was carried out used Open Sees in this paper. The parameters included recycled concrete strength,stirrup strength,steel strength and steel ratio. The analysis results shows that the bearing capacity of composite columns increases slightlyas the increment of recycled concrete strength,but the ductility and energy dissipation decreases a little. In addition,as the increase of steel strength,stirrups strength and steel ratio,the seismic bearing capacity improved and the ductility increased,which shows that these parameters is beneficial for the seismic behavior of composite columns. The research results has a positive significance for the application of steel reinforced recycled concrete composite columns.
