Analysis of the uplift of 15 × 10~4 m~3 unanchored storage tank

In order to simulate and analyze the uplift effect of 15 × 10~4m~3 storage tank accurately,using the finite element software ADINA to analyze the seismic response of a small tank that filled with potential-based fluid and another small tank that filled with Flow-condition-based Interpolation( FCBI) fluid. Obtained the uplift height and the shape of uplift area and compare it with Clough's experimental result,then confirm the tank filled with FCBI fluid can stimulate the uplift phenomenon reasonably. Finally,applying this kind of modeling method to 15 ×10~4m~3floating roof storage tank and expose tank,inputting displacement and time history curve of El-centro whose peak ground acceleration is 0. 4 g,and analyzing its seismic response. The result shows that: under the impact of seismic action,floating roof tank can be uplifted. The shape of uplift area is crescent and swell can occurred at the tank's bottom edge. Compared with expose storage tank,floating roof tank can suppress sloshing wave height and reduce overturning force moment effectively. But,the overturning force moment of the tank 's wall will be enlarged,which will increase the uplift height of tank's bottom,contact force and axial compressive stress of the tank's wall.
