Powerformer and Its Recent Development

Ge Baojun Zhang Dakui Liang Yanping (Harbin University of Science and Technology Harbin 150040 China)  
A completely new class of generators which are able to deliver electric power at transmission line voltage level directly-Powerformer (POF) is introduced, and its fundamental principle, development background, key technology, benefit and the specialty of design and operation are also presented. Finally, the recent development and application of POF are discussed. POF is regarded as the most prospecting power conversion equipment by international specialists.
