Recent years, wind power is experiencing a rapid growth, large number of wind turbines/wind farms have been installed and connected to power systems. In addition to the large centralised wind farms connected to transmission grids, many distributed wind turbines and wind farms are operated as distributed generators in distribution systems. This paper discusses the issues of wind turbines in distribution systems.Wind power conversion systems briefly introduced, the basic features and technical characteristics of distributed wind power system are described, and the main technical demands and possible solutions are discussed.
